In light of the ongoing protests in Hong Kong, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives has canceled the ACTE Global Summit in Macau, which would have taken place Aug. 26 and 27. The association said, "We take duty of care very seriously, and with many of our attendees, sponsors, vendors and staff scheduled to fly through Hong Kong for the event, we are concerned that ongoing civil unrest in the city poses a risk to their safety." As reasons, ACTE cited the rising number of companies restricting their employees' travel to the area; the more than two dozen countries issuing travel advisories about Hong Kong; additional protests planned for Aug. 17, 18 and 25; and the possibility of China using military force against the protesters. On Wednesday, flights?resumed?at Hong Kong International Airport after two days of massive flight cancellations due to the protests.
