Airlines managing their alternative aviation fuel programmes via the Chooose platform can now incorporate IATA CO2 Connect emissions data into their emissions calculations, according to IATA.
The CO2 Connect emissions calculator, first launched in June 2022, uses actual aircraft performance data ¨C including fuel burn, belly cargo and load factors ¨C to provide flight-specific emissions calculations, while also accounting for reductions related to the use of alternative aviation fuels. More than 70 IATA member airlines currently contribute operational data to the methodology.
IATA SVP, commercial products & services, Frederic Leger, said: ¡°IATA CO2 Connect is the only carbon calculator for travel emissions that is based on airline operational data.?We want IATA CO2 Connect data to be as broadly available as possible so that those who are managing travel can do their work with the most accurate information. Working with Chooose is a key part of that strategy.¡±
The move follows a similar agreement in June to integrate CO2 Connect data into the Amadeus Travel Platform.
