Middle Eastern airline Etihad Airways has ordered 28 new long-haul aircraft from US manufacturer Boeing.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier has agreed to purchase a mixture of 28 B787 and B777X wide-body aircraft from Boeing, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: ¡°This commitment reflects our approach of carefully managing our fleet and expanding in line with demand and our long-term network plans.
¡°Since 2023, we¡¯ve made consistent additions to our fleet, and this latest step ensures we continue to meet our future requirements.¡±
Etihad has also announced a new US route between Abu Dhabi and Charlotte in North Carolina, which is scheduled to start on 4 May 2026. The route will operate four times per week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft configured with business and economy cabins.
Charlotte will become Etihad's sixth US destination, joining New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Boston and Atlanta, which begins on 2 July.
