The platform is currently live in Ireland via Finnair.com and will be progressively rolled out ¡°in market-based waves¡± and available ¡°in all modern channels¡±.
¡°We¡¯ll monitor technical performance and customer experience carefully, and based on those learnings, we¡¯ll launch the new technology to wider audiences in due time,¡± the carrier told BTN Europe.
Finnair¡¯s first ¡®native order¡¯ was booked earlier this month for a
flight from Helsinki to London Heathrow.?Finnair said it is the first
airline globally to implement an Offers and Orders model.
The platform is built on Amadeus¡¯ Nevio system, with Finnair as the launch customer. Carriers such as British Airways and Air France-KLM have also partnered with Amadeus to provide the solution.
Based on the?International Air Transport Association's "One Order" standard, Nevio will streamline purchases into a single order as opposed to having multiple documents, such as a passenger name record, an electronic ticket and electronic miscellaneous documents, for each booking, according to the companies.
Finnair VP of digital customer and revenue, Tiina Vesterinen, said: ¡°The move to Offers and Orders supports our move towards modern retailing, enabling, for example, dynamic product bundles and enhanced ancillary sales, and improved relevancy to customers with personalisation in the future.
¡°This is a massive technological transformation, where everything changes: architecture, integration, data, applications, processes, ways of working. However, it is even more of a business transformation enabling us to re-think how we best serve our customers in the digital channels.¡±
Cyril Tetaz, EVP airline solutions at Amadeus, added: ¡°This innovation brings the shopping basket concept to the airline industry, connecting any travel service such as air, transfer, or hotel into a single record. Orders are the foundation that enable a truly connected journey."
