Following the establishment of a bilateral agreement in January, Icelandair and US low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines will introduce new connecting services from Europe to Orlando, Pittsburgh and Raleigh-Durham from 14 July. This is in addition to existing connections via Baltimore, Nashville and Denver.
Additionally, from 5 September, Icelandair will launch twice-weekly flights between Reykjavik and Istanbul as part of an extended codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines. Icelandair will also place its marketing code on select Turkish Airlines flights to Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Icelandair president and CEO Bogi Nils Bogason, said: ¡°In recent years, we have placed great emphasis on expanding our partnerships with strong airlines around the world with the aim of offering our customers new and exciting travel options and contributing to the company¡¯s further growth.
¡°The cooperation with Turkish and Southwest has been great, and we are very pleased to strengthen the ties even further,¡± he said in a statement.
