Emerald TMC, based in Baker Street in north London, has ceased
trading.
The company, the corporate travel management division of
Emerald Global Group, was founded in 1980 by Gabriel Ng-Wong. Ng-Wong died in February 2020 and the business was taken over by his sons.?
The TMC division, which accounted for around 10 per cent of
the group¡¯s ?57.6 million revenues (financial year 2020), was headed up by Caroline
Atkinson. The group¡¯s eConsol wholesale division consolidated
airfares to travel agents and TMCs across the UK and Europe.
ABTA said its licence was terminated on 31 March and the company ceased
trading on 9 April.
Neil Gostelow and Steve Absolom of KPMG have been appointed
as administrators and are aiming to realise the remaining assets,
including the TMC division.
Emerald joins a growing list of TMCs which have folded during the pandemic, which includes Baxter Hoare, Horncastle Executive Travel,?Thornton's Travel?and?Business Travel by STA.
