Indian budget airline IndiGo is extending its presence in Europe with plans to launch services to Copenhagen and Athens in the coming months.

The carrier, which launched its first long-haul routes from Mumbai to Amsterdam and Manchester in July, will begin services between Mumbai and Copenhagen on 8 October.
The route will operate three times per week using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which it is leasing from Norse Atlantic Airways. The aircraft will feature both economy and business cabins.
IndiGo has also announced plans to launch two routes to Athens from both Mumbai and Delhi by early January 2026, using its new Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The airline said it will run three weekly flights on both routes.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said: ¡°Athens as the inaugural destination for IndiGo¡¯s - and India¡¯s - first Airbus A321XLR is a symbolic milestone of India¡¯s aviation ascent. IndiGo is proud to be the only Indian airline, currently, to announce direct flights between India and Greece.¡±
The airline has also agreed a codeshare partnership with Greek carrier Aegean allowing its passengers to use Aegean¡¯s network of domestic and European flights.
Aegean is planning to launch flights to India by March 2026 ¨C starting with five weekly flights from Athens to Delhi followed by three weekly services to Mumbai.
